AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is now reportedly interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho is now reportedly plotting a shock move to sign a Manchester United outcast "at any cost".

The Red Devils returned to winning ways this past weekend, with a 1-0 victory over Burnley, following a gruelling few weeks both on and off the pitch.

The EPL giants currently have two players out of the team under controversial circumstances, with Antony having been given an absence of leave due to allegations of domestic abuse and Jadon Sancho having been exiled from the squad following a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag.

It remains unclear when, or if, the latter will make a return to the side after he was accused of training poorly by his boss prior to the Red Devils' game against Arsenal last month, with the winger having publicly denied this claim via social media, insisting that he was being made a "scapegoat" by the Dutch tactician.

With the Englishman said to be considering his future at Old Trafford as a result, there is now serious interest in him from outside the Premier League.

According to Il Romanista, Mourinho now wants to sign Sancho for Roma at any cost, with the Italian outfit closely monitoring the attacker's situation at United.

Similar to Giallorossi defender Chris Smalling, Sancho could look to reignite his career in Serie A under the ex-Red Devils boss, with the report claiming that the English centre-back has told the 23-year-old he should make the move to Rome.

Smalling himself signed a new two-year contract with Roma in June, extending his stay in the Italian capital until 2025.

Upon signing that deal, he said: "Choosing to remain at Roma was an easy decision to make.

"I'm playing the best football of my career here, and my family and I have felt so welcome in this wonderful city from day one.

"What's more, this club is clearly taking great strides forward in all areas.

"I want to thank our fans too: The unconditional support they have shown me helped make the decision even easier."
