Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been linked with a shock move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire reportedly has a £50 million (R1.1 billion) offer on the table from a top European club.

Maguire is currently going through his worst spell at Old Trafford in terms of game time, having made just 10 Premier League appearances so far this season.

Although he won his first major career trophy, the Carabao Cup, last month, he has fallen out of favour under manager Erik ten Hag, who has made Bruno Fernandes the skipper in the England international's continued absence from the starting line-up.

The centre-back was thus strongly linked with an exit in the January transfer window, with Aston Villa widely reported to have been the leading suitor at the time.

However, Unai Emery's side were not the only interested party, with Paris Saint-Germain believed to have also made an approach for the 30-year-old, but Ten Hag was reluctant to allow one of his defenders leave as the club was still competing in four competitions at the time.

According to The Sun, PSG's £50 million offer that was made in January is still on the table should Maguire and United be interested in a deal.

The French giants are said to be looking for some serious defensive reinforcements amid recurring absences from their current three main centre-backs – Presnel Kimpembe, Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos – who have missed more than 40 games combined through injuries and suspensions in 2022/23, per Transfermarkt.

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar and Maguire are the two names rumoured to be on the French club's radar.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, remains adamant the Three lions centre-back's service are still needed in Manchester despite his limited appearances in this campaign.

"I'm really happy with Harry Maguire," he said in February.

"I think he's progressing really well and in the games he is playing, he is doing really well. But we have big competition. Harry is right-footed – a big competitor with Rapha Varane, who is also a brilliant player.

"But that is what we need if we want to restore Manchester United – we need top players but also double the players in every position because we want to play in so many leagues and so many competitions."
