A coach has now admitted that he would love to have on-loan Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood in his team.

Since joining Getafe at the beginning of the season, the 22-year-old has played himself into the spotlight with his performances in LALIGA, scoring five goals and pick up five assists in 23 matches.

His return to football came after charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023.

United later decided that they would help the player relaunch his career away from the club, with his last appearance for the Red Devils coming in January 2022.

Similarly to his club career, the attacker could seemingly have the opportunity to reinvent himself on the international scene. He has just made one appearance for the England national team which came in September 2020.

The chances of him receiving another call-up in the near future is believed to be unlikely. However, Greenwood also qualifies to play for Jamaica through his father, and it is an idea that the nation's current head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson would not be opposed to.

Speaking at a CONCACAF Nations League preview event in Dallas earlier this week, the international manager expressed his desire to have the Getafe forward in his side.

"I really don't like to talk about 'what if', but this, of course, has come to our mind," he told the Athletic.

"I would love to have him in my team. Like all coaches, I would like to have the best players in our team, but it's always up to the player himself if he wants to do it."
