A final decision on Mason Greenwood's Manchester United future is now reportedly set to be made next week.

With Manchester United having confirmed that Mason Greenwood's fate is still "the subject of intensive internal deliberation", when the club will announce its final decision on the saga has now reportedly been revealed.

On Wednesday, United published a statement confirming that Greenwood's future is solely in the hands of the club's chief executive officer after United concluded the fact-finding phase of their inquiry.

The club's internal investigation is now down to its final stages after charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning bodily harm against the forward were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Authority in February. 

According to The Sun, Erik ten Hag side's is set to reinstate Greenwood to the first team next week, following an 18-month absence from professional football.

The report claims that an announcement thereon will only come after the conclusion of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup due to England's participation in the final against Spain on Sunday.

A source told the British outlet: "This has been a long and difficult process for everyone involved, but it's nearing the end.

"The internal investigation is over and Mason is likely to be reinstated at Old Trafford. 

"He's made no secret of his desire to to get back to doing what he does best.

"He's already got the backing of the players and manager Erik ten Hag. He's just waiting for the green light.

"The club will communicate its decision as early as Tuesday after the women's World Cup final."
