Argentina legend Diego Maradona's son has insisted his father was on a different planet compared to current national captain Lionel Messi following the Albiceleste's shock loss to Saudi Arabia.
Widely regarded as two of the greatest footballers in history, Maradona and Messi are the most celebrated players ever in their nation.

Their legacy remains heavily debated in many quarters, though, with some believing the Paris Saint-Germain superstar needs to win the FIFA World Cup, just like the former did back in 1986, in order to be considered the greatest player of all time.
The polarising debate prompted an audacious choice of words from Diego Maradona Jr, who dismissed comparisons between his father and Messi following Tuesday's embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia, a side almost 50 places below them on the FIFA rankings.
"I am devastated by the defeat of Argentina," he told Radio Marte.
"I find it hard to believe that all this really happened. Losing to Saudi Arabia is crazy."
Maradona Jr then touched on the comparisons some have made between his father and the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, stating: "The comparison between Messi and my dad is made by those who don't see and don't understand football.
"We are talking about two different planets.
"But I don't want to throw the cross at Lionel right away.

"Sometimes in football, you lose even against much weaker opponents.
"I don't think Argentina was presumptuous [against Saudi Arabia]. Rather, he was afraid. Soccer is like that.
"If you don’t close the games, even the poorest teams will come after you."
