Mamelodi Sundowns remain in a strong position to qualify for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The 20 sides that have so far qualified for the new 32-team 2025 FIFA Club World Cup have been confirmed, as Mamelodi Sundowns' quest for qualification continues.

After their 1-0 victory over TP Mazembe in their final group game of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, Sundowns gained further ground in their mission to qualify for next year's Club World Cup, which has been expanded to 32 teams.

Winning the CAF CL would guarantee Downs a spot at the tournament, but the South African giants could also qualify via the FIFA club rankings pathway, in which they currently occupy a commanding position heading into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

With CAF now having four slots at the CWC, only two remain as Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca's places have already been confirmed.

Meanwhile, in Europe, Borussia Dortmund became the latest club to seal a spot at the Club World Cup, becoming the second German club, behind Bayern Munich, to book their place at the tournament, which is set to take place in the United States.

European juggernauts Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea have also qualified by virtue of winning the UEFA Champions League in the past three seasons.
