Ferran Torres is now being linked with a shock exit from FC Barcelona.
Ferran Torres is now being linked with a shock exit from FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona could now be set to part ways with a certain forward who cost them more than R1 billion amid reports of tension between the club and the player's agent.

Barca are believed to already be scanning the market ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with the club reportedly keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz and Girona loanee Savinho.

The incoming arrival of Brazilian sensation Vitor Roque is also expected to be a boost, but it is now being suggested that a particular marksman in the current squad could make way as the 18-year-old also plays in the forward line.

According to Spanish news outlet Marca, Ferran Torres could be on the verge of an exit from the Camp Nou just two years after joining the Catalan giants in a €55 million (R1.1 billion) switch from Manchester City.

It is said the relationship between Torres' agents and Barcelona's technical staff is strained due to past incidents.

Moreover, it is claimed the departure of former sporting director Mateu Alemany in September has further complicated matters it was he who sanctioned Torres' move from the Etihad in January 2022.

It is further stated that Alemany's exit has left the 23-year-old feeling uneasy at the Camp Nou, while his camp feels the player does not have the full support of manager Xavi Hernandez.

Although he has scored five times in 19 appearances this season, his role in the team is becoming less prominent, with the likes of Joao Felix, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski having all received more minutes than the Spain international so far in this campaign.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United are reportedly hoping to sign Torres for a fee of around £35 million (R833 million) in January.
