Newly crowned Club World Cup champions Manchester City are reportedly closing in on their first signing ahead of the January transfer window.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Citizens have stepped up their efforts to sign Argentine wonderkid Claudio Echeverri.
The 17-year-old caught the eye of Europe's elite after starring for Argentina at the recent U-17 FIFA World Cup.
Romano claims that City have advanced talks with Echeverri's representatives and have already discussed contracts.

City are going to follow the same blueprint with how they handled Julian Alvarez, who signed for City in 2022 but returned to River Plate on loan.
Alvarez returned to the Citizens last season and has been key figure in the attack as they won the treble last season.
Echeverri has broken into the River first team but has only four appearances this campaign, but he is expected to see more game.
