It has been claimed that Chelsea are set to make a big transfer decision after American music artist Jay-Z intervened.

The Blues initially made the decision to loan Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan for the 2022/23 season in a surprise deal following the Belgian’s club record move back to the Stamford Bridge in 2021.

A one-year loan deal was agreed with the Serie A club paying the striker’s €12 million (R214 million) a year in wages and a €8 million (R143 million) loan fee plus a further €3 million (R53 million) in bonuses.

Reports have previously suggested that Graham Potter would be interested in taking a look at the striker if the Nerazzurri did not launch a permanent bid.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the two clubs have agreed a further year’s loan that will see him spend the 2023/24 season with Inter in a deal which will include a agreed transfer fee.

It is claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is willing to accept a huge potential loss in this deal after his personal friend Jay-Z, who runs the Roc Nation agency which looks after Lukaku, suggested that the striker staying in Italy would be the best solution for everyone.

The report adds that an official announcement will not come until January.

Lukaku left Chelsea after falling out with Thomas Tuchel and the German’s departure is said to have not changed the situation.
