A Brazil star has revealed he will seek psychological help after bursting into tears during a recent match.

Selecao forward Richarlison broke down in tears after being substituted off in the 71st minute and failing to score in Brazil's 5-1 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier victory over Bolivia on Saturday.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward finds himself going through a dry period as he has not managed to net a goal for his national side since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

For his club, things have not looked too bright either.

Since making the £60 million (R1.4 billion) switch to north London from Everton last year, Richarlison has scored just once in 31 Premier League appearances.

However, the striker has revealed that it was not the lack of goals that caused his emotional outburst while on Brazil duty on the weekend.

"That sad moment wasn't even because I played poorly, in my opinion I didn't play a bad game in Belem, it was more of an outburst about the things that were happening off the field, which got out of control not on my part, but on the part of people who were close to me," he told Brazilian outlet Globo.

"I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home. People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me.

"Now things will start to flow, I'm sure I'll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again.

"I'm going to go back to England, seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind. That's it, come back stronger.

"It's about getting a good streak at Tottenham, this week I'm going to sit down and talk to them, I need a good streak, get the rhythm of the game and get there well."

Richarlison will be hoping to be in a good mental space when Spurs take on Sheffield United on Saturday, with the London club looking to continue a good run that sees them currently in second place behind only Manchester City in the EPL.
