FIFA and CAF have granted the Football Association of Malawi a massive financial aid package.

The football federation of a certain African nation has revealed that both CAF and FIFA have granted them a huge $8 million (R147 million) financial package.

According to BNN Breaking, Fleetwood Haiya, the president of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed that the organisation has received a staggering financial aid package from both the continental and global football governing bodies.

The deal is said to amount to $8 million across a four-year period, and the funding falls under the FIFA Forward 3.0 Programme, which is set to significantly improve football-related programmes within the country.

Of the total package, $5 million (R91.7 million) has been set aside for operational running costs, while the remaining $3 million (R55 million) is for planned football development projects.

Furthermore, FAM will pocket an additional $200 000 (R3.6 million) over four years for football equipment, with the association also said to be committed to ensuring transparency and proactive leadership in managing its resources.

It is believed that a further $240 million (R4.5 billion) grant from the World Bank is also on the horizon to further uplift football projects in Malawi.

According to FAM's official website, the newly-elected Haiya said in a recent press conference: "The FIFA and CAF presidents are very excited with our goals and ambitions and have pledge their support towards the development of Malawi football.

"I have been assured of FIFA's continued support to Malawi football under the FIFA Forward 3.0 Programme [which] rolled out on 1st January 2023 and will run up to 31st December 2026.

"... I have also confirmed with FIFA that the $169 580 (R3.1 million) that we applied for national teams support has been approved and will be paid to FAM soon.

"This is a huge relief considering the enormous budgetary requirements involved in national team engagements. Additionally, Super League and Regional Leagues project support valued at $550 900 (R10.1 million) – that is expected to be used for the next three years  has been approved.

"This will ensure that our promise to subvent and cushion the elite and regional football organisation is on course as we begin the 2024 season."
