Zimbabwean footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi has joined a new club back in his home country.
Zimbabwean footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi has joined a new club back in his home country.

A Zimbabwean footballer, formerly of Orlando Pirates, has now reportedly found a second club following his unceremonious departure from South Africa in 2022.

According to Soccer24, winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has now signed for Manica Diamonds in the Zimbabwe's top flight.

The move comes just a month after the player was released by Ghanaian giants Medeama, who were effectively knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Al Ahly this past Friday.

He was released by the club just five months into his one-year contract in January.

Mahachi is now said to have signed a two-year deal with Diamonds, marking his return to the Zim top flight for the first time since leaving Highlanders FC for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014.

In July 2022, he parted ways with SuperSport United amid a child abuse scandal that he was eventually cleared of.

His ex-girlfriend alleged at the time that the 30-year-old star burnt their then-four-year-old son with hot water, which eventually led to the amputation of the young boy's leg.

Following a seven-month court battle, the former Golden Arrows forward was cleared of attempted murder and child abuse".

He released a statement after the ruling, expressing that he had "lost everything".

"I was dismissed from my club with immediate effect with no income. I was vilified by a nation that I was once a football darling of and my fate was sealed on social media without a trial," the statement read.

"During these seven months, I lost everything I lived for. Seven months of being shunned by even those that I played alongside, seven months of death threats, seven months of depression.

"I lost everything that I worked for. All my savings have been depleted in my quest for justice. Yes, I have been exonerated but the nightmare I have gone through can never be erased.

"I can only pray that someone out there is willing to take chance on me, so that I go back to playing the sport that I love and finish my career without this torrid time being how I exit this beautiful game of football."
