Morocco, Spain and Portugal are set to have talks over the allocation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup fixtures, including the final.

With Morocco, Spain and Portugal set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, there is already confusion as to who could host the final of the showpiece.

FIFA announced on Wednesday that the three countries will be sharing the duty of hosting football's largest spectacle, along with Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, who will host the first three matches of the tournament to celebrate its 100th year after first being held in 1930.

Now, however, Spain and Morocco — countries with a history of political tension between them — are reportedly at odds about who should host the final.

After the host nations were announced, Spain's sports minister Miquel Iceta told Onda Cero radio station that he expected the final to take place in their country, while the head of Morocco's football federation Fouzi Lekjaa told Radio Mars that the goal was to see the historic event take place in Casablanca, as per Reuters.

It is understood the three nations have scheduled a meeting for 18 October to confer about the scheduling of the World Cup fixtures, including the final, with Iceta stating that the parties involved already have an agreement in place as to how the fixtures should be alloted.

CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe has previously expressed his optimism for the partnership between the three countries.

"We are confident that the Morocco, Portugal and Spain FIFA World Cup 2030 partnership will be successful in the FIFA bidding process and will also obtain the FIFA Congress approval," he told the African federation's official website.
