TP Mazembe star Kevin Mondeko has sent a warning to Esperance ahead of their African Football League clash on Sunday.

Mondeko was part of the Mazembe side that were eliminated by Esperance in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League during the 2018/2019 season.

The Congolese side now start their African Football League journey against the Tunisian giants and Mondeko says they have one thing on their mind.

“We remember very well that match and we are going to try and make our revenge," Mondeko said at the pre-match press conference, as per the AFL website.

"We want to make sure that history does not repeat itself."

The TP Mazembe captain says the players have worked on their mentality, which has been key for their start to the season.

“The problem was just our mind and we have worked to try and improve that. Last season was a bad season but now the mind is new.

"We have a new coach and we have been working very hard in training to make sure we are ready,” noted the skipper.

Mazembe's last win over Esperance came back in 2010 with a 5-0 drubbing in the Champions League.
