Veteran goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane will be forced to seek new employers next season after having to make way for Melusi Buthelezi at Orlando Pirates.

Buthelezi is joining from TS Galaxy where he has played since being snapped up from Jomo Cosmos.

The 25-year-old spent three years at TS Galaxy working his way to prominence this past season with 21 appearances and playing ahead of Vasilije Kolak from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With his Pirates deal in the bag it means Mpontshane will have to step aside after eight-and-a-half years with The Bucs.

The age factor has been considered with Buthelezi aged 25 while Mpontshane is 37.

Mpontshane has signed several deals since he first arrived in January 2015 just three months after the death of Senzo Meyiwa.

The veteran keeper has had competition from Brighton Mhlongo and Philani Zikalala in his early days through to Felipe Ovono, Jackson Mabokgwane, and Emmanuel Daniel all the way through to now under Richard Ofori and Sipho Chaine who was signed at the beginning of last season.

Chaine has proven to be a solid alternative to Ofori who has contractual matters to iron at the club and is likely to be kept due to his experience on the continent.

Mpontshane is out of contract at the end of June.
