Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego has opened up on the heartbreak of being knocked out of the Carling Knockout cup by TS Galaxy on Wednesday.
Despite being down by as many as seven players, The Brazilians went into Wednesday’s match as favourites to seal a spot in the quarter-finals.
Sphiwe Mahlangu and Mlungisi Mbujana each got on the score sheet to put Galaxy 2-0 up by the interval.

Speaking to the club’s media after the match, Mashego addressed the loss, Bongani Zungu's red card and his side’s performance.
"It’s so painful" Mashego said.
"It’s so painful because we have been practicing penalties in training and then now we had to lose a second game in the space of a few days. So, eish, it’s so painful, I don’t want to lie.

"Honestly it was difficult game, especially because in the end half e got a red car so we were one man down. But we had to fight because we had a game [plan]. We were playing so well and we created opportunities.
"I would say, on a different day, we deserved to win this game. Unfortunately we had to lose it on penalties."
Sundowns will be aiming to return to winning form when they host Moroka Swallows on 29 October in the DStv Premiership.
