Head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on a 'very difficult' season for Kaizer Chiefs and where he believes it went wrong for his side in recent matches as Chiefs look to end the season with a win.

Amakhosi are set to take Cape Town City for their final match of what will be an underwhelming season for Zwane and his chargers.

While rivals Orlando Pirates walked away with the MTN8 and Sundowns lifted a sixth consecutive DStv Premiership title, Amakhosi are set to end end yet another season without a single piece of silverware.

Reflecting on the season, Zwane was not above admitting that the season had been a 'difficult' one.

"We want to finish the season on a high. We've had our ups and downs," Zwane told the club's media.

"We had moments where were happy. We saw things coming alright and we also had moments that gave us sleepless nights in terms of not getting the results and also a number of injuries, inconsistency in terms of having the starting eleven."

"It's a been a learning season, a very difficult one but also a season that one can say from [assembling] a new squad and a new technical team, [was] not bad at all, looking forward to improving things and get better."

Additionally, Amakhosi go into Saturday's fixture on the back of three consecutive defeats across all competitions and with only a fourth place finish to play for, but Zwane is adamant that this side will finish on a high.

"Indeed we thought we could redeem ourselves against SuperSport and on the day, I don't think we exerted ourselves the way we wanted to and ended up on the losing side.

Having said that, coming from a [Soweto] derby that took a lot from us because we had put all our eggs in one basket because wanted to go to the final at all costs and it did not happen.

"That might be the physiological factor when it comes to the players and we thought maybe we could redeem ourselves against SuperSport.

"But it's still not a train smash. It's a setback. What is key for us now is to into this game, making sure that we focus this game to get the points and forget abut the past."

Chiefs' clash against the Citizens will be played at FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
