SuperSport United's Shandre Campbell stars in photoshoot with Oakley and Sunglass Hut

In a campaign with Oakley and Sunglass Hut, SuperSport United starlet Shandre Campbell sat down with Kick off and opened up on his off-field persona, the best advice he has received and so much more.

Sunglass Hut and Kickoff approached four rising stars who participated in a photoshoot where the quartet of youngsters got to show off a side to them that fans may have not seen before.

As part of the campaign, this week sees SuperSport United's emerging talent sit down with Kick off and share some of his personal goals, his views on style and the personality behind the camera.

Take a sneak peek at Campbell's youthful exuberance.

1. When did you realise you want to become a professional footballer?

When I saw the potential i had and how invested my parents were in my career. They always took me to gym even if there was no petrol. They always made a plan and sacrifices to get me there. I realized that i want to be a professional if I work hard. I want to make my parents proud.

2. What do you want to be remembered for?

I just want to be remembered for being a good footballer on and off the pitch. Doing what footballers do, getting goals and breaking records. I just want to be the best i can be.

3. Who is the GOAT footballer?

Cristiano Ronaldo, he is inspiring, always breaking records. He prefers hard work over talent. Ronaldo is someone special and he is different and he will never stop working even in tough situations. He is the best inspiration for anyone and i am not saying that no one else is but i am just saying that he is one of the best.

4. What is the best advice anyone has ever given you on or off the field?

The advice i normally receive from my parents is don't look back if you have done something wrong and always stay grounded while you are young. So when you do have the money one day, you wont blow it all and do funny things.

5. Tell us a bit about your style, do you prefer casual, or formal?

I prefer casual, I like wearing baggy clothes and clothes that are comfortable. While i enjoy casual, i also like to be semi formal. A semi formal would be a suit pants with a t-shirt and PUMA's new shoes because they look casual.

6. Is there any footballer who or celebrity whose drip you would like to mirror?

Jadon Sancho has nice drip, he is always wearing jeans and i love jeans. Sancho wears these fancy jeans and t-shirts. I like caps and his shoes are always on point. I like Jordans, Nikes and Airforces.

7. Who is the most stylish player in the DStv Premiership and why?

Thembinkosi Lorch. I see his Instagram posts and man is living large with the Louis Vuitton and other name brands.

8. How do you deal with the trolls or negative comments on social media?

We take negative comments as a motivation. People want to see me do better so I take it as motivation, I don't see it as a reason to snap or get angry. Even when we get negative comments about our team. We say this is what we wanted, we put ourselves in this position so we have to get ourselves out of it. We can do that by improving and being motivational towards one another.

9. Do you have any other hobbies or interests outside of soccer?

I like playing basketball just for fun. I don't know the rules but I like playing it. Sometimes I go to the court and shoot some hoops or I play with my friends two versus two or three versus three.

10. If you couldn’t be a professional soccer player, what would you do instead?

I would have gone into real estate or business management because I feel like I can negotiate well if I have to. If I did not have soccer, I would take it seriously. I'm going to do it but obviously, with soccer in between, I have to balance both. I would prefer to do real estate because you can have people work with you and for you. Your property makes money for you.

11. What is on your music playlist? What gets you pumped before a game?

I like old school music, i also have a lot of gospel on my phone. I like amapiano and some of these rappers like Drake, Lil Baby and Gunna. Some of the old school artists i listen to are Boyz II Men. Before a game, I don't listen to music really, I just listen to motivational speeches.

12. Do you have a pre-game ritual or superstition?

No I don't. I just ask God for protection, guidance and I pray I'll be the best player on the pitch.

13. How do you deal with disappointment after a loss?

Normally, I would look at my mistakes and look at where we lacked. I always take it even negativity as a motivation to improve myself.

14. If you had any advice for your younger self, what would it be?

Don't give up yet. There was a point where I wanted to give up because I saw my own peers going ahead of me and i wanted to give up but then I didn't as I had guidance from my parents.

15. What was the biggest lesson you learned so far in your career?

Most people are not happy for you.

16. If you had to define your style in one word, what would you use?

Special.

17. Can you play an instrument, or would you like to?

I always wanted to learn how to play the piano. I just like the way it sounds.
