Before his season was brought to a tragic stop due to a horrific ankle-breaking injury, TS Galaxy star Bernard Parker seems to have had a number of good things going for him off the pitch. Here's a look.
The story
On Wednesday, Die Hond broke his ankle after a dangerous tackle by Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu. The harrowing challenge has been a huge talking point, perhaps largely due to Ben 10's seemingly unremorseful reaction after he was shown a red card for the incident.
The veteran forward's agent has since confirmed that the player "is only disappointed in the player [Zungu] for not showing remorse."

Although this has now likely ruled out Parker for several months, the player could use the time off to recover and focus on his flourishing off-field endeavours. In July 2023, the 37-year-old launched his book titled FROM A SHACK TO DESTINY, where he opens up about his life and career as a professional footballer.
The autobiography tells the story of how he helped move his family from a shack to a comfortable and warm home. One of the player's key messages is to inspire young footballers to reach their dreams no matter the circumstances.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker has been one of the exemplary figures of the sport, with his illustrious career having taken him to places like Serbia, Greece, and the Netherlands.
Itec Tiyende, a Johannesburg-based technology solutions company, also recently confirmed that they were a "proud sponsor and supporter" of Parker. It certainly has been an incredible 2023 for him, as he alo became an ambassador for the betting company, BoyleSports.
Coupled with a book tour, he has also been giving back to the community through his foundation. On the less serious side of things, the marksman was also seen showcasing his DJing skills on the radio station, 5FM - playing Mas Musiq and Daliwonga's hit song Gangnam Style.
