Mamelodi Sundowns' blockbuster signing Matias Esquivel has made his first impression in South Africa following his big-money arrival from Argentina. Here's a look!

The story

The Argentine star was recently unveiled at Chloorkop after signing a deal worth €2.3 million (R47 million) until June 2027 from Club Atletico Lanus, as per Transfermarkt.

The 24-year-old seems is admired for his stunning technical ability and is expected to add an extra layer of quality in central midfield. His move, however, comes as no suprises as it's been months since reports started surfacing about his move to South Africa.

He arrives in a dressing room with a couple of fellow South Americans, as Junior Mendieta, Gaston Sirino, Marcelo Allende, and Lucas Ribeiro were one of the first teammates to welcome him and show him around.

The playmaker wasted no time familiarising himself with his new environment, as he seems to have received a tip on who is the best barber in town. He was spotted getting a haircut in Waterfall in Midrand.

With a family of two kids and a wife, the playmaker will certainly rely on his South American peers to show him around the best spots to take his family, with a plethora of fun destinations to visit, not just in Gauteng but in the country as a whole.

Downs have the bulk of their squad at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and he is therefore yet to meet all the Bafana Bafana representatives as well as Namibia's Peter Shalulile.

The reigning DStv Premiership champions resume their season on 14 February in an away clash against Golden Arrows, giving Esquivel a chance to visit the scenic province of KwaZulu-Natal.
