LEGENDARY musician Joe Nina is mourning the death of his brother.

Joe Nina, whose real name is Makhosini Xaba, said his brother Vusimuzi (43) from KwaThema in Ekurhuleni died on Monday, 4 October.

The Ding Dong hitmaker said his brother was ill for almost a month and was admitted at Far East Hospital in Ekurhuleni where he died on Monday.

According to Joe Nina, his brother was the leader of a kwaito group called Nina Brothers.

Joe Nina said: “My brother has been seriously ill for more than a month and was suffering from a liver infection. He was a drinker and a smoker.”

The legendary musician said he is concerned about how people who drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes as they affect their bodies.

“Since his death, the family has been mourning and we are weak. We are still shocked about his death as a family,” he said.

“Furthermore, it’s painful because when my brother died he was so weak and couldn’t talk to me. He was fragile and losing weight. He is now is resting because he was in pain. We will remember him for his beautiful soul,” said Joe Nina.

He said he will remember his brother with his song Sgubhu Umenzani.

Vusimuzi’s friend Nico Phooko said: “I’m down and out, he died so soon.”

Vusimuzi is survived by his son, mother, sister and two brothers.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, 9 October at Vlakfontein Cemetery in Nigel, Ekurhuleni.
