It's been brewing for a long time, they tell us. They have lived with water issues and almost zero service delivery for years, and their grievance list grows longer every week. 

Now they have taken to the streets to air their frustration. The N2 between Gqeberha and Makhanda is closed off, protesters are singing and burning tyres, and business has ground to a halt.

The Makana municipality has been brought to a complete standstill after only two days of protests.
