He always arrives in court on time with his family, entourage and bodyguards.
Often, he keeps his head down when has to appear, waiting outside the courtroom while barricaded by his bodyguards. He enters the courtroom when he’s been called.
Former host of the controversial Moja Love show, Uyajola 99, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of attempted murder and assault.
In July 2023, the TV personality and rapper handed himself over to the police after three complainants laid charges of rape against him, alleging the incidents happened from 2006 to 2009.
When approached for comment on Monday, 5 February, Jub Jub made it clear that he doesn’t want to speak to the media yet.
However, his uncle – who has been by his side since the matter of the school kids’ accident – says in due course they will talk. But for now, they just want to obey the law, come to court and listen to the merits of the case carefully.
The matter sitting in front of Magistrate Betty Khumalo was postponed in December 2023 for allocation of courts.
The Johannesburg Regional Court was supposed to move to Jeppe but, due to equipment issues, it remains at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. Senior state prosecutor Agnes Bezuidenhout told the court that the state was supposed to furnish the defence with some documents.
She said they have done that and they also completed the investigations.

Jub Jub’s legal representative, Advocate Terrence Baloyi, confirmed that they received the particulars but were not happy with some of the details.
“The reason I stand before the court is to highlight on a previous occasion it was postponed today it was for the purpose of allocation. I have then received the particulars I will also place on record that it’s not satisfactory, but I had a chat with my learned friend and confirmed that there is nothing further that they can provide, so we have to work with what we have. We have made a move by submission of facts. We have discussed that whatever the situation maybe we shall seek for postponement for submission (sic).

“The state had the conversation with the defence, and we gave them all the information that we could give them," said Jub Jub's lawyer.
"They indicated to me that they want to postpone, the state is going to attend to that. The investigations were completed long ago; the annexure is in the docket because she [Bezuidenhout] is worried it might get lost. The annexures and the charge have been provided to the defence.”
Magistrate Khumalo remanded the matter to next month for the submission of the representations.
Jub Jub's bail was extended.
