Hip-hop DJ and entertainment pioneer DJ Dimplez fell sick on Saturday. The artist, whose real name is Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, was rushed to hospital after he fell sick at his home on Saturday. But the following day, he took his last breath.
He passed away on Sunday at 1.15pm after he had a sudden brain haemorrhage, said family spokesperson Shekeshe Mokgosi, who confirmed the passing on of the Amantombazane hitmaker and told Drum that the family is still coming to terms with the news of his passing.

"Yes it is true, DJ Dimplez has passed away on Sunday afternoon," Shekeshe said. "We would like to be given time to grieve as the family is still coming to terms with the news. We confirm that he succumbed to a brain haemorrhage, unfortunately we can't share any more details as we are requesting privacy during this difficult time."
DJ Dimplez was an award-winning DJ and had many hits, including Amantombazane which he worked on with the late Riky Rick. He also mentored and helped elevate many hip-hop and up-and-coming artists and was the brains behind the popular Pop Bottles event and PopCast podcast.

One of his friend who wants to remain anonymous told Drum that the death of DJ Dimplez hits home because they grew up together in the same neighbourhood and he has witnessed the artist's passion for growing South African hip-hop.
"He loved hip-hop and believed that the movement will grow if people collaborate, and that is how the Amantombazane song came about," the friend told Drum. "When he saw potential in someone he made sure that he gives that person a platform. The industry has lost a real one, and it cuts deep because it has not even been a week since Riky's funeral."
