Everybody needs love. Winter is a great time to find it because you’d have lots of time to cozy up to your love interest and get to know them better.
SABC is making that possible with a new reality tv show where people from all walks of life put themselves out there, just hoping to get the attention of someone with mutual interests.
Love is Love is coming to SABC 2 from 18 May at 7pm.
The show follows love-seekers searching for the perfect match. Each contestant has a lot to offer and invites other interested singles from around the country to enter and join them in their quest for love.
With the help of their best friend, each contestant will pick their stand-out entries from the list of general publics who have in pursuit of love. They will then go on a group date with their chosen candidates where two will be selected to go on a more personal one-on-one date. Eventually, the contestant will pick the candidate they want to get to know better during the episode’s big finale.
The television series will give contestants time to shine, show off their personality and go on a series of exciting dates and the opportunity to find love – all on the small screen.

“Love is Love is set to keep South African families entertained as it depicts the ordinary South African, we can relate to. The show forms part of the channels newly configured 7pm entertainment slot that offers variety of themed shows from Monday to Friday,” says the channel’s Caroline Phalakatshela.
The show has a range of contestants from a CEO all the way to a hairstylist.
Simphiwe Jack Mabaso – Actor, 28
Simphiwe is looking for love and a good time! The 28-year-old actor based in Midrand keeps himself occupied with his role on S3’s The Estate. Simphiwe considers himself to be caring and humble. Looks play an important role in Simphiwe’s job and he hopes to find a lady who shares his calm demeaner as well as his need to keep fit. Not one to shy away from flirting, Simphiwe brings a mischievous flair to Love is Love 2023.
Yentel Jacobs – Branch Manager, 27
Yentel is a 27-year-old branch manager based in Blouberg, Cape Town. Specialising in car paint protection, Yentel is most certainly not your average lady! With hobbies like pole dancing, DJing and skateboarding, Yentel is looking for a feisty female partner who can keep up with her busy pace. In Yentel’s own words, this special someone needs to be “kind-hearted, down to earth and able to stand up for what they believe in.” Join this Cape Town adventurist as she, quite literally, dives into the dating pool.
Stacy Anderson – Regional Events Manager and Part-Time Model, 34
Born and bred in Paarl, Western Cape, 34-year-old Stacy is a vivacious model and events manager. Now based in Cape Town, Stacy considers herself to be a strong and assertive introvert, ready to take on the challenge that is Love is Love 2023. Stacy’s friends consider her to be kind, nurturing and a lover of life, and hope for her to find a partner who matches her “unstoppable energy”! When considering a partner, Stacy makes her priorities clear: her match will need to be kind, family orientated, adventurous and, above all else, a lover of animals. As Stacy puts it, if her beloved Boston Terrier, Mia, doesn’t approve: “It won’t work!”
Eric Von Branders – Hair Stylist, 38
Based in Johannesburg, 38-year-old Eric is a colourful and compassionate Hairstylist and a single father to an adopted 8-year-old. Eric is a lover of art and enjoys taking part in creative activities. While he does not need a creative partner, he is looking for a male partner who is willing to try new things and accept him for who is he is. Eric is an optimist who feels strongly that one should never regret a day in your life. To quote Eric: “the worst days give you lessons, and the best days give you memories.”
