He was tired of seeing friends test positive for HIV and only having words of encouragement to offer. He wanted to do something practical.
So, Phathu Nechimboni (25) started researching condom manufacturing in South Africa. In just over a year, he launched his own brand of condoms Raw Pleasure on World Aids day on 1 December 2020.
The 25-year-old trainee policeman from Alexandra township admits he had no clue what it would take to create his brand of condoms, but he knew something needed to be done about the HIV infection rate, especially among young people.
