Christmas day is finally here.
For Rhythm City’s Zamani Mbatha, this day is about all about love, laughs and family.
We caught up with the actor caught to find out what this day means to him.
"During this time of the year, we are all together at home and, there is love and laughter everywhere,” he says.
Home, for Zamani, is in KwaMashu, Durban.

He says there is no other place in the world he would rather be on Christmas than with his family.
“Christmas for me is about family.
“There is no other day in the year that is as beautiful as Christmas. My family and I usually come together decide where we will be having our Christmas lunch.
“Everyone dresses up and we go to that chosen place, we have lunch together and just chill as a family,” he explains.

His family has done this ever since he was a child and they have built memories he cherishes.
His best Christmas memories
One of his fondest memories are of him dressing up for the occasion.
“My friends and I would compete on who was the best dressed every Christmas Day. I really enjoyed that.
“This was this thing we did in the township as kids.
“We would go door to door asking for ukhisimuzi [Christmas], and people would give us money, while others gave us sweets and cakes," he shares.
“The funny part was that at the end of the day, you would go back home full.
“Those are the greatest memories I have as a kid on Christmas,” he says.
Christmas with the Mbatha’s
The Mbatha’s are a Christian family so for them, this day is all about Jesus.
“Usuku luka Jesu [It’s Jesus’s Day].
“At home, we have a tree and gift each other every year.
“My favourite was my very first Air Max sneakers, there were from my oldest sister, Wendy,” he says fondly.
“Wendy is someone who likes to surprise us. And at the time, Air Max was the in thing.
“So, for that, they meant so much to me and they are by far my ‘best’ Christmas present.”
