Men are being unfair for staying in relationships when they do not want to commit.
Men are being unfair for staying in relationships when they do not want to commit.

Lord, your people bore me!

Nowadays people want to sound woke about everything, and they are paying no regard to reality.

Ok, from the get-go, I will admit that we experience people differently. But what you are not going to do is string me along for five years in a relationship knowing very well that when you want to get married, you’re going to choose someone else.

I know not everyone wants to get married and if that’s you, please sit this one out.

Ladies who want to get married generally let the men in their lives know quite early on in the relationships and quite frankly, if you’re in a loving and healthy relationship, you should know if your partner wants to get married or not.

Personally, I am bored by men who take women for a ride.

We’ve all seen it play out either in our circles or celeb-ville. Years ago, actor and TV personally Sipho “Psyfo” Ngwenya married his wife Aamirah, not long after he had ended his decade long relationship with broadcaster Hulisani Ravele.

They broke up in 2017 after serving couple goals from their days on YoTV in the early 2000s.

Now rapper Cassper Nyovest has done the same.

Cassper, real name Refiloe Phoolo had been with his baby mama Thobeka Majozi for years and they welcomed their bundle of joy in 2020. He calls himself Mufasa, his little one is Simba and naturally Thobeka is Sarabi. It was perfect, but your boy had to mess it up.

Now that he is ready get married, he suddenly realised that his childhood bestie is the one.

Njani, na sana?

Men need to stop this thing of using women as place holders.

Someone on social media used the analogy of a cooler box and a fridge. Men will take their cooler boxes everywhere and they are in the car every weekend. But for items that need to be stored frozen for the long term, they will use the fridge. Yes, there is value in the cooler box, but it’s no fridge.

Great analogy, but women are not objects that men can use and discard when they done with them. And if we go with the fridge and cooler box analogy, does the cooler box know that it is only there for a good time and not a long time?

Men need to start making their intentions clear. If you are not looking for a serious relationship where a future can be built, then say so. Do not make empty promises that you know you have no intentions of fulfilling.

Men will go on and have conversations about imaginary future children with their partners, not to mention the mothers that start calling them makoti. This makes women feel like you’ve had conversations with your parents about a future you want with them. It makes them feel secure. Then jiki jiki, ten past four.

Kanti the whole time you have been looking for iphakade lakho while someone’s daughter has been cooking, cleaning and taking care of your home.

Men need to be emotionally intelligent enough to communicate their feelings, needs and concerns in relationships.

Ladies, we need to stop giving men free passes. Ask him, directly. And if he can’t even give you a straight answer, then he’s got to go.

But on the bright side, maybe you’ve dodged a bullet because no one wants to be with someone who cannot do right by a person they claim to love.

Commit or ship out. There will be no cooler boxes on our watch!
