Media personality and now wellness coach Zuraida Jardine is a well-known and celebrated broadcaster with two decades worth of experience.

She is probably best known for being on the airwaves at 5FM during what was the pinnacle of the station and she formed part of roster that had names like Gareth Cliff and Sasha Martinengo.

The still very happily married mother of two has taken a long leave of absence from the world of broadcasting, and she has been pouring her efforts and time into a new venture involving wellness and mental health.

Her Instagram is littered with images of Zuraida in the lotus flower pose and other similar ones.

“Returning to TV was not in the immediate plan as I’ve been focusing on my Health practice, but I got an offer from Afternoon Express and the alignment was perfect,” the multi-hyphenate explains.

The 48-year-old Zuraida is enjoying the pressures of doing live television and welcomes the added exhilaration of living in the moment. This balancing act of walking a fine line between two very different worlds has not been one without difficulty but she has taken it all in stride.

“I feel like balance is illusive. Having a support structure certainly eases the pressures of life. I wouldn’t be able to function as efficiently as I do if it were not for the support of my family and friends.”

"Preparation is vital. My interviews are important to me as the topics we cover centre around crucial matters in wellness. Everything health and wellness. We are living in the information age and there truly is no excuse when it comes to empowering yourself with the right information and acquiring the right tools to live a fulfilling life.”

She may not have a face for radio, but she certainly has the acumen and voice for it – but a move back to this medium might be a desire her fans won’t soon get to enjoy.

"Not too sure about Radio right now,” she says with an atmospheric giggle.

“After spending the last year researching and writing, I will soon be launching my health and wellness workshops and courses online. I’m also enjoying my work in the corporate spaces around employee wellbeing where we teach bringing wellness to work.
