The Soil will be performing again at Emperor's Palace in March.

From the time they introduced themselves as acapella group, they've had South Africans call in love with song after son.

The musical group The Soil never fail to deliver great music and their collaborations have earned them new fans.

Now, with 18 years of experience, they are back by popular demand.

On 4 March, they will have a one night only show at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace, where they will be bringing their signature blend of traditional African rhythms and contemporary grooves.

The trio made of Buhle Mda, Luphindo Ngxanga and Ntsika Fana Ngxanga, have in previous interviews said they started singing together while doing chores and cleaning their school on a Friday afternoon in their township. They hail from Soweto and their sound is very much influenced by the country’s authentic culture.

Fans can expect to hear some of the group’s biggest hits as well as new and exciting material.

“We are so excited to be back on the Theatre of Marcellus stage and to be able to connect with our fans through the power of music with beautiful songs from our upcoming album and tracks from our earlier work,” the group shares.  “We can’t wait to share this journey with our fans and narrate the journey from where it all began until now.”

From songs like We Are Family, Iinkomo, Susan or Hamba Uyosebenza, they have drawn fans from all over the world and kept them captivated with their unique sound.

They have taken time to focus on their solo careers, but after seven years they have returned to studio together.

In an interview with Drum last year, Ntsika said it was great that he introduced a surprise performance by co-founding member of The Soil Samthing Soweto, who left the group before their rise to fame. In addition to The Soil, Ntsika brought together artists including Dumza Maswane, Vusi Nova and Karabo Mathe for his tour.

The last time the three band mates performed with Samthing Soweto or shared a stage with him was 13 years ago, before the release of their self-titled debut album.

Little did Ntsika know the moment would be one to remember and the audience loved it. “That is how amazing the performance was with Samthing Soweto. We had no idea we still had the chemistry on stage.”

Surprisingly, Ntsika, Samthing Soweto, Buhlebendalo and Master P did not get together for rehearsals. They trusted they would be able to wing it.

“We met up on the day of the show, went through the songs and the running order, we bonded, hugged, prayed, cried and a lot of appreciation and shared the magic. I had The Soil perform first and once we were done, we took the audience back and had a classic TBT without the original four members,” he says.
