The gang is back and true to form, they make you love them and hate them all in one episode.

Season two of Adulting dropped on Showmax this morning and it is a solid start to the season. The boys are back with their complex realities.

The story follows the lives of four friends, the moreki Bonga played by Thembinkosi Mthembu, the hustler with the hard exterior Tsiki Tsiki played by Nhlanhla Kunene, the recovering serial philanderer Mpho played by Thabiso Rammusi and the always ready for a good time Vuyani played by BU Mthembu.

But one thing is for sure though, they really prove that you do not need blood to be brothers. Their brotherhood is evident from the very first scene when they fetch Tsiki Tsiki from prison. Theirs is truly a “through thick and thin” kind of relationship.

Sometimes they lead each other astray and do stupid things like the unnecessary fight they had at the strip club so soon after Tsiki Tsiki’s prison release. It was compromising for him, and it could have gone horribly wrong. But the fight started because Tsiki Tsiki was looking out for Vuyani.

With all the partying, girls, sex and booze that they indulge in, they also call each other out when it is needed.

Just like when Bonga had to talk some sense to Tsiki Tsiki when he was ready to fight the elders from Natasha’s family in Gqeberha because he wanted his daughter back. Bonga had to be the voice of reason and remind him that he had to get his act right first before he will be able to take care of his little girl. All the while, Vuyani is saying stupid comments like “let’s grab her by force and drive away fast, they won’t catch us” and the truth is that would not end well for Tsiki Tsiki and the kind of man and parent he wants to be.

It's great to see that Mpho and his wife Zethu seem to have their groove back, but considering his lack of impulse control, he is really putting himself in positions where he may stray.

Vuyani’s new, but seemingly committed relationship is a bit nerve wrecking. Viewers may be watching and waiting for the penny to drop. Waiting to see what will cause Vuyani to go back to his old life of living off sugar mamas. But while it lasts, good for him.

Bonga may seem to be the mature one in group, but he really needs to go to therapy to deal with his issues. The way he interacts with women is unhealthy and the woman he left at his house could be a wild one.

Even though he is with other women, he is still thinking about Nkanyezi played by Londeka Sishi.

And cliff hanger at the end? That could cause real turmoil in that brother’s life.

Adulting airs every Monday on Showmax.
