Work It. Get Ur Freak On. Lose Control. RATATA . . . She did that!

She put her thing down, flipped it and reversed it, and now she’s become the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Describing Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott as "a true path breaker in a male-dominated genre", the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation named the hitmaker as one of its 2023 inductees.

“I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work that many of us WOMEN contribute to MUSIC,” she posted after the announcement of the good news on Instagram.

“I have cried all day because I am GRATEFUL thank you @rockhall & all on the committee & Supafriends I love you.

“I am from Portsmouth Virginia aka P-Town.. #757 to 804 I send my love??You day dream of these moments but today it’s Real???????? VA 2 up 2 down 7 Cities?????? I want to say I love you!

Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott defined a culture, set clubs on fire (metaphorically, if you are reading this as an ama2000), and created bomb performances whenever she appeared on stage – who can ever forget her celestial 2001 MTV VMAs performance when she floated down into the stage on a chandelier?

She’s inspired legions of artists – not just as a female rapper, but as damn good one, and a consummate professional and prodigious performer.
