The country is still reeling from the news that Shona Ferguson has passed.

We look back at some of the roles that stood out and made South Africans fall in love with him.

Jerry Maake on The Queen

Shona played a detective on The Queen. He was a man obsessed with chasing down criminals,  particularly from the elusive Khoza family. He was serious, uptight but a sensitive man at heart who went all out to protect the people he loved.

JB on Rockville

He played the bad guy on Rockville, a man who owned a brothel and no matter how hard he tried to live a clean life, his criminal past would always jeopardise his family life. JB was a gangster who more than anything had a great sense of family and knew the importance of taking care of those he loves.

The Gift

In the gift Shona Ferguson played a successful businessman who is involved in illegal activities that lead to the death of his young brother-in-law. The film is about love, family and how all that glitters may not be gold.

Simon ‘Vader’ Masire in Kings of Johannesburg

The kings of Johannesburg brought thrill, suspense and excitement. Shona played a vile older brother who made his younger take the fall for him. His brother ended up serving time in jail for a crime he did not commit. In the series he ventures into the dark world of black magic in order to keep his family wealth and legacy.
