After leaving her acting career in South Africa, actress Asanda Foji relocated to the Netherlands for four years with her partner.
She returned home in January of this year with her partner, they are ready to spend the rest of their lives together.
Asanda recently showed off visuals from her traditional Xhosa union with her fiancé.
In a series of three social media posts, she shared the traditional Xhosa rituals that unite them as husband and wife performed before a wedding celebration.
On day one she shared, Ukwamkelwa Komkhwenyana, the welcoming of the groom to the bride’s family home.
“When my husband promised he’d make me his wife five years ago in 2017, I thought to myself, ‘I’ve heard that line before. When he finally asked for my hand in marriage and sent his uncles to negotiate Lobola in 2019 I thought ‘Ok this could really end in happiness.’ But when he and his uncles came back again last week to rightfully claim his wife and their makoti I thought, My king, my baby love, my nunus, my soulmate has really kept his word and did right by me after every heartbreak, setback, evil we have had to fight against together,” she wrote.
“Mama I know you were smiling down on us and saw your last born being given away to a family chosen by you, my Grandparents, and God because I felt your spirit the whole time.”
Asanda says she is grateful for the union of both families.
“Thank you God and thank you to both our families from the bottom of our hearts for this past weekend’s three-day affair. First day’s pics done, more coming.”

On the second day, the actress shared activities. Ukuthathwa kukamakoti eshiya ikhaya lakhe forever, the bride leaving her home to be with her groom.
“Growing up, I never knew what it was like having a home with both parents in a happy marriage because my mother’s husband died when we were very very young and my mother had to raise five children on her very own doing the best she could with what she had,” she says.
“So the idea of a happy loving marriage was not something we sat on the table and spoke about at home. But leaving my mother’s house this day I swear on my mother’s grave, on God, in Jesus Name that I will build my home and carry my cross kowam umtshato (in my marriage) and no human being and no unholy assignments shall turn me backward,” she adds.
“Knowing very well that I’m marrying a human being created by God to make countless mistakes I still vow to love him regardless and when I get tired and weary God will carry the cross with me for I’m never alone. I love you my husband dearly, just because you have loved and protected me in a way no other man ever had and most importantly because you were specifically chosen for me by God and my ancestors. Glory be to God for this day.”

On day three both families celebrate as one.
“This date was changed so many times, my husband and I were both starting to be doubtful if it’ll ever happen; but what God puts in place, no man can ever remove or change. What is meant to be, no one and nothing can stop,” she says.
“My soulmate and I were finally blessed with what we’ve wanted the most for years and it could not have been possible without our Lord God. Thank you Father for your continued Grace upon my marriage, for seeing us through what seemed to be impossible to get past, for fighting hell to keep us together God, for shaming the devil and helping us succeed Father. I worship you God for each and everything you have done for us, wiping our tears through pain for us, giving us strength through the extreme hardships we’ve faced together.
"For helping us Pray together God, for the Peace in my home I thank you God, for giving my soulmate the compass to find me Lord, for the unconditional love we share Jesus thank you, for the patience we have for each other, the trust we share thank you God and I thank you Holy Spirit for being the center and the lock that keeps it all together that no one and nothing can break.”
