Describing herself as a creative, Pamela truly comes alive when the cameras start rolling.

At just 27, Pamela Mtanga is already one of the most highly regarded entrepreneurs – and it all comes from not limiting what she's capable of achieving.

The term “multimedia entrepreneur” might sound broad, but for Pamela, it perfectly encapsulates her diverse skill set and multifaceted roles, she tells DRUM.

Recounting how she started thinking of herself in these terms, she says: “Sibu Mabena from Duma Collective once told me I can’t be boxed because I wear many hats, and it just made sense!”

From TV presenting to being an influencer, event hosting and being a business owner, Pamela’s portfolio knows no bounds.

And the heart of it all?

The Gqeberha businesswoman's love for life, fashion, and art.

That is at the core of Brand Pamela who recently embarked on a dream collaboration with Mr Price and Wonderbra. “Mr Price and I have been flirting for a while, and it has been one of my dream collaborations,” she reveals with excitement.

“When they approached me to be the face of this collection, I fell in love instantly!”

She says she’s all about working with trusted brands, adding that Wonderbra’s global reputation and Mr Price’s status as a leading South African retailer add prestige to the collaboration.

However, Pamela’s portfolio doesn’t end with brand collaborations. From gracing the screens as a TV presenter on Afrimaxx, a lifestyle show on the Home Channel, to partnering with L'Oréal on their Glycolic Bright campaign, and running her wig business, Honeycomb Hair, her dynamic presence in the media reflects a lifestyle brimming with activity and innovation.

Reflecting on the defining moment in her career, Pamela shares the story of the first time she picked up a microphone and auditioned to be a radio presenter live on air, before even securing an interview with the programming manager.

“Every single time fear grips me, I remember that very moment,” she admits, acknowledging the courage that propels her forward in embracing new opportunities and conquering unchartered territories.

Navigating the media industry has taught Pamela invaluable lessons about staying relevant and true to her purpose. “It’s quite easy to get lost and forget your purpose,” she says. “For me, staying relevant is about innovating and constantly working on myself.”

Despite the challenge of managing her YouTube presence due to the struggle of balancing her love for filming with the tedious task of editing, Pamela remains resolute in her commitment to storytelling and shaping her own narrative. She promises her loyal followers, affectionately known as her Boo-thangs, that she’ll be back on the platform in March.

One thing she’s been consistent with, however, is her refreshingly authentic fashion content on Instagram. Asked how she manages to stay on trend, she declared that she likes what she likes – end of story.

“I’ve noticed how trends influence people to think they have a personal style just by adopting it and that’s my biggest fear when it comes to trends. I always want to express myself fully, in the way I speak and dress, and that influences the work I put out and how I present myself to the world.”
