Letoya Makhene and her wife, Lebo Kheswa, are in shock and fear for their lives following an alleged attack by the father of the actor's son.

It is reported that Tshepo Leeuw, with whom Letoya shares a child, lost his cool, became physical, and wanted to hit Lebo with an axe.

This allegedly happened in Glenvista, Johannesburg south, and the couple have reportedly since opened a case of assault at the Mondeor Police Station.

“My ex Tshepo Leeuw and his family assaulted me and my wife Lebo Makhene-Pulumo because she refused to take a plastic bag that he was sending my son home with consisting of; five-pack noodles, five apples, five pears, five bananas, and a box of Tinkies,” Letoya wrote on social media.

“He lies and claims he’s supporting my son and he’s not," the actress and singer alleged.

"If anything, he took a loan from me and owes me money. He hasn’t paid one cent for our child ever since he was born.”

Attempts were made by Drum to reach Tshepo, but his phone rang unanswered.

The police also won't give a statement on record regarding reports that the couple have opened a case.

Tshepo and Letoya met at her cousin’s baby shower a few years ago. In an interview with Drum, she said he was best friends with her cousin’s man before they fell in love.

"We were just two people who were frequently in each other’s space. I never paid much attention to him until I really got to speak to him and realised, he’s a dynamic man. His intelligence attracted me, and I only realised later that he’s a gorgeous man! It’s quite odd because as humans we’re normally attracted to physical appearances first.”

Letoya, who has three children from a previous marriage, said at the time that Tshepo’s sharp mind intrigued her. “I’m attracted to intelligent, open-minded, and well-read people.

The relationship, however, did not last.

Letoya later fell head over heels for Lebo. When the couple met, Letoya was not looking for a relationship. “I truly never saw this coming,” she told Drum in a previous interview.

She and Lebo tied the knot in December 2020 in a beautiful African-theme traditional wedding, which was attended by close friends and family.

She refused to miss out on love because of people’s prejudices. “I am a child of the spirit, which means I do what makes me happy,” she said.

“I have mastered shutting out the world. As long as I am centred with God, nothing else matters. I feel sorry for judgemental people who throw Bible verses my way.”

Having grown up in the public eye, she’s had to develop a thick skin. Even so, coming out wasn’t easy.

“I thought about whether it would damage my reputation. But I was a sangoma and went to initiation school at the age of 18 before it became popular among celebrities.

“I went through that path alone, and I’m still standing. If that couldn’t damage my reputation, nothing will,” she says.

“My happiness comes first. I don’t hide my beads or my cloth. I don’t need to hide my sexuality. In Lebo, I found someone I connect with on every level and feel I can spend the rest of my life with – and I don’t need to explain myself to anyone.”
