The show has a big slot to fill. SABC 3 viewers have been waiting with baited breath to see what will replace their much loved soapie, Isidingo: The Need and tonight the new show will be unveiled.

Fans and cast members were shattered when news that Isidingo: The Need would be taken off air after 20 years. Now they will get a chance to fall into the new South African drama, The Estate, which hits screens tonight at 7pm.

The creators of the drama have shared snippets on social media, which has led to comparisons between the two shows.

The Estate is said to be a gripping drama that will tell stories that are a reflection of today’s society. The drama promises to tackle the current tough conversations ordinary South Africans are having on land, identity, money, class, power, equality, and corruption.

The Estate cast includes veteran and former Isidingo actor, Don Mlangeni, who makes a return to the channel. Other well-known names are Clementine Mosimane, Linda Sebezo, Aubrey Poo, Sdumo Mtshali, Dineo Langa, Matli Mohapelo and Jo-Anne Reyneke. 7 de Laan co-stars Jacques Blingnaut and Hidegardt Whites will star as a married couple on the show.
