When he accepted the calling, he truly believed that was what was needed of him.

He had lost a lot at that time. Losing both his parents, two brothers, his jobs, and then losing his wife and the beautiful marriage that they had at some point took a toll on him mentally, spiritually, and physically.

Actor and presenter Thabiso Mokhethi left people wondering after he announced that he is “retiring” as a sangoma.

The announcement not only shocked his followers on social media but also left many wondering if it is possible to retire from a calling.

“I have lost many people in my life. Those losses left me alone, and I was only left with my kids. I used to have a family that I was born into, and they all passed away. I was left with my marriage, I felt that this was my new family, and when my wife decided to call it quits, the loneliness got deeper. And so did the depression, loss, and rejection, and the industry that I have been serving also gave me a cold shoulder.”

The former Generation actor says he believes that his ancestors are real but he felt that he needed to publicly let everyone know that he will no longer be a sangoma. This is after "an out-of-body experience" he had when he was at the funeral service he was hosting and heard God speak through him.

Thabiso says he went to his Instagram and recorded the video because God wants him to share what he has been taken out of. And he has four other sermons that he has received from God.

“After the service one pastor came to me, shook my hand, and told me that this gift that I have I shouldn’t take for granted. He told me to take it back to God, and God would use it then he walked away. While sitting with my cousin, I heard God telling me that I need to choose who I will serve, I can’t have one leg in him and the other in the world. The Lord says he can’t keep dragging me out of the messes that I willingly put myself in because when it suits me, I forget who he is, and when I need him the most, I call upon Him. He told me to stay in his house so that I can see what my true purpose is.”

He says he is now publicly choosing to work for God because he couldn’t ignore the messages that God has been sending him and now knows that his life needs to change.

“The first thing that I needed to do was to publicly resign because privately I was not seeing clients. I couldn’t even enter my ndumba anymore, but that was not enough, I needed to destroy that alter that I created. I needed to burn the things that I have collected of ubungoma over the past three years. And I need to publicly disassociate myself with the practice as much as privately I am no longer practicing.”

Thabiso says it was a challenge for him because his calling was paying him, but he had to trust the voice of God. He says this transition has been happening since last year and he now trusts that he is doing the right thing by listening to God.

“God once saved me from poverty and put me into fame. Took me out of obscurity and made me clean and I know he can do it again. And now that I am reading his word again and I have guys in the industry who are preaching to me, the word of God was coming alive in me.

"I was remembering who God is to me. So, I burned everything, and I was praying while doing it, asking for forgiveness for being lost. I asked God to use me for his glory and I am going to share my testimony with the world.”
