He is approaching almost two decades of being on radio and the comedian says his success is only the beginning as he has a lot more in store for his fans.
Skhumbuzo ‘Skhumba’ Hlophe’s radio and comedy career is soaring, it feels like yesterday when he started at Voice of Tembisa hosting one of the biggest shows on the station, and then moved Kaya FM joining the late Bob Mabena who Skumba credits his radio success to. Now he is counted among the great comedians in the country and is currently wrapping up his comedy tour. The show will be taking place at the Market Theatre on 12 and 13 April.
Every year he goes on tour with prominent and up-and-coming comedians, he says he started the tour because he wanted to stop waiting for people to book him and create those bookings for himself. He's always been diverse - catering to both people from the township as well as from the burbs. he says that having the best of both worlds has helped him craft jokes that crossover and that everyone can relate to.
