This Father’s Day, celebrity dads share what makes them great fathers, who their male role models are, and what their plans are for this day dedicated to them.

The dad of two daughters says fatherhood allows him to tap into his inner child.
“I get to feel like a child again. They have more opportunities and privileges than I had when I was a child, but I want to do what my parents did for me. I travel the world with them, we talk about everything and I instil the values I had as a child.”
Who did you look up to while growing up?
My dad, uncle, and my grandfathers from both sides played a huge role in the type of father I am. My parents were married and I have always had stability and a sense of family unity. We prayed together, ate, sang, celebrated, and even mourned together. When it was someone’s birthday, we would visit with a cake and have tea together. We did this religiously and each visit was special for us as a family.
What are your plans for this Father’s Day?
We are planning to have lunch for family and take my dad out for Father’s Day. Last week he turned 70 years old and we couldn’t have a party for him, so we are celebrating with him at 1947 restaurant on Vilakazi Street in Soweto.

Who did you look up to while growing up?
I looked up to my dad who was a hands-on father. I am what I am today because of him. He instilled in me humbleness, respect, and being goal-orientated and that is what I plan to instil in my kids.
What are your plans for this Father’s Day?
Nothing has been planned but I know my partner is full of surprises, I know for sure it will be a good Father’s Day.

He believes when his son was born, he also became reborn and got a new lease on life. “Having being raised by a single mother, I didn’t want that for my son. I felt the need also to change how I lived because I wanted to set a good example for him. He inspires me to work harder for me to create a better life a future for him.”
Who did you look up to while growing up?
I looked up to my late Grandfather, he was a father to all my siblings and extended family members. He treated us with the same love and taught us a lot about family and sacrifice.
What are your plans for this Father’s Day?
For Father’s Day I’m taking my kids out for lunch, but also they promised to bake a cake for me and wash my car.

Who did you look up to while growing up?
My grandfather defined what fatherhood was about. He truly took care of his family and he is my reference of what a good man is supposed to be.
What are your plans for this Father’s Day?
“I know my kids are going to wake me up with breakfast, but later I will be celebrating at different Father’s Day events around the country. I will be on the road entertaining fathers and talking about what matters as a father with other dads.

Who did you look up to while growing up?
Bishop TD Jake's is a teacher and father from a distance to me. My wife introduced me to his sermons and I find spiritual and wisdom from him. If you have seen the mutual admiration between him and his daughter Sarah Jakes-Roberts, you will understand what I am talking about.
What are your plans for this Father’s Day?
The day is always planned for me by my beautiful wife together with my kids and I always appreciate the gesture. So, this year is a mystery, but I know it will be a special one.
