Life with Moshe starts on 28 January 2024, on Mzansi Magic at 7pm.

We have seen him love his dogs loudly and proudly.

As much as this has shocked many, it is nothing out of the ordinary in his life.

The oh-so charismatic TV personality Moshe Ndiki just has a lot of love to give, even if he does say so himself.

For as long as he can remember, he has always wanted to have kids and a family of his own and the last thing that was going to stop him from doing this was his sexuality.

Openly gay, Moshe took the surrogacy route to make this happen.

“I’ve always wanted to be a dad, ever since I was growing up. I wanted it all; the family, the partner, the wedding, you name it. I told myself, especially now with the kids that whether I do it with a partner or not, I will definitely be a dad. I’ve actually been a dad to so many people [already], my godchildren, my nieces, my nephews and my little brother. [So, I made the decision because] I’m at a point in my life where I’m able to support a child emotionally, financially, physically and otherwise.”

Admitting that he’s grown, he says he is ready to discipline the necessary values that a child needs.

He tells Drum that if he could conceive children naturally, he would’ve become a dad ten years ago but because he’s gay, he took his time to embark on this journey.

The 31-year-old adds that there is no particular reason why he chose surrogacy over adoption. “It’s a choice that suited me.”

To prepare himself for what the journey would bring, he went to therapy.

“A whole lot of therapy, a whole lot of introspection, a whole lot of looking around and seeing who’s in my corner, are these the type of people I could go visit with my child? I watch[ed] what they say to their own kids and how they interact with other people as well and I was taking many silent mental notes. Preparation is not only internal but there’s external preparation as well. I needed to make sure that I’m absolutely ready.”

For society, the ideal traditional way especially for planned pregnancies would be to be married first but Moshe, “a wedding ring doesn’t raise a child”.

He shares that he was also raised by a single mother who pulled the job off.

Before the questions of where their own mother is arisen, he says he’s more than ready to answer to his children.

Instead of one child, Moshe is expecting twins whom he can’t wait to meet.

Taking to Instagram last year to announce the news of being a father, he said he has no words over God’s mercy and love for him.

“The past 2 years I’ve tried to live and build a life where me and my child could be good, comfortable, safe, loved and God said ‘because uyaphapha bamba amaTWINS’. It’s a funny story how that happened but I thank God and my surrogate, my surrogate’s husband and family. My egg donor, thank you thank you. Me and my surrogate have been calling each other ‘mzali we twins’, it’s always surreal but we prayed over that term cause pregnancy is tricky, it’s sensitive and scary. She’s my real-life hero.

“My reason to live, my heart, my veins, my love, my twins, thank you, thank you for coming in at just the perfect time, the time you chose the process to say yes, I will love you till eternity, your crazy aunts and uncles are waiting plus your gran, I sense she wants you to herself. We are all waiting, in prayer, in patience, in love and in excitement.”

Although it all worked out for the best, the surrogacy journey wasn’t the easiest for Moshe as he waited three years to get to this point.

From looking for a surrogate through an agency to allowing the legal process to take its course, Moshe leaned heavily on his faith and learned to be patient with it all.

“It’s definitely challenging, even choosing the right person and the way in which my surrogate came into the fold in terms of this plan was just a blessing from God.”

As for his egg donor, he made sure that he chooses someone whom he already knows and trusts.

In his 13-part reality TV show set to hit the screens on 28 January 2024, Mzansi magic at 7pm, he documents this whole journey.

“I literally show you the vulnerability of it all, the challenges. I don’t think you’ve ever seen me cry but I do cry a lot. You’ll see me love, you’ll see how I navigate my family as an adult in as much as they still take me as a child, you’ll see me be my mom’s son and me being a dad to my children,” he shares what to expect on Life with Moshe.
