To date, he is still stopped by fans recognising him as a presenter on YoTv’s Ntunjambili kiddies show.

The kids who used to love watching the show are not so little anymore. Some are lawyers and others are journalists.

Mornings were never the same again when the show stopped airing seven years ago. It featured two siblings who were drawn into a mythical cave and taken through a series of challenges and adventures. They survived through books and storytelling with the help of the wise and magical Magangane, who lived in the cave.

The next time Magangane was seen again on TV screens, he was fighting for children to have financial support from their fathers on No Excuses, pay Papgeld (wearing his signature slim fit suit).

From time to time, Moss Makwati would also stand in for Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye on the MojaLove hit show, Uyajola 9/9.

However, the presenter disappeared from the public domain.

Sitting down with Drum, wearing a green slim fit suit he starts sharing why he intentionally took a step back into his cave.

“I’m in this industry, which is filled with worldly things, it is very easy to be swallowed up by the things of this world but when you understand that you are in this world but not of this world its different. I was at a t-junction and didn’t know which turn to take.”

He adds that his safety had been compromised as he was tracked, and his phone hacked into during this time.

“It sounded crazy then to the people I told, they asked who could possibly track me because it’s not like I’m a billionaire. Besides the evidence on my phone where I’d find even my e-wallets taken, messages blocked, pattern jammed and changed, I was seeing the same cars following me, the same people in public with the same patterns of movement, all carrying bags. It was during covid when we were all wearing face masks so I couldn’t clearly identify the people and even wondered if I’m making a mountain out of a mole hill.”

The 40-year-old presenter recalls a day when he ordered an uber with his card only for no funds to reflect and he needed to call someone to send money to the lady uber driver. From this experience, he says he grew more vigilant and learned to pray more often.

“If it were not for God, they would’ve killed me a long time ago. That’s what they were trying to do, to shut me up, move me out of the way, from the screens so that I don’t expose that God has power.”

Moss now uses a small Nokia phone that has no location services and constantly changes his cellphone number and email addresses for his safety.

All that will be coming to an end though as he says, “I’m still going through it and I’m at the cusp of the end thereof because I have a revelation of the season that I’m in.”

Despite having been on the break, he says he still has opportunities at his doorstep and he’s grateful that he was able to survive even without work during this time.

Debunking rumours that he was fired from the Papgeld show, he says he left of his own accord just before taking his break.

“I was not fired, I left, and I recently was afforded the opportunity to have a sit-down meeting with the executive and I was able to voice out my concerns which I’m highly appreciative for. I spoke and they heard, whether or not they will listen, I don’t know.”
