He's done it all. He's been the ever loved Archie Moroka on Generations, then a few years later he showed off his versatility when he played the fabulous gay Kgosi on The Queen.
He's been Mufasa in production of The Lion King and Shakespeare's Othello.
Actor Sello Maake ka Ncube has become a fan favourite over the years as he thrived in every role, whether as a foe or friend.
Now the internationally acclaimed thespian will be gracing the streets of Turfloop as Ntate Kganyago on Skeem Saam.
He has already started shooting. His character, Ntate Kganyago, will be making his first screen appearance on 11 October.
He may be an old hand at this, but Sello exclusively tells Drum that he still gets excited about getting new roles.
“Every character is different on each show. You are venturing into exploring different circumstances of a different persona that you take on. It is a depiction a different human condition from the one you played in the previous show and that is always exciting. And I am happy to be still getting work,” he says.
“Another thing that is great is that some characteristics that are dormant in me, may be dominant in that of a character I play and that allows me to explore different personalities.”
In light of industry veterans dying poor or struggling financially because of a lack of gigs, Sello attributes his longevity and staying power to love.
“I once read a book that had a line that said ‘work is love made visible’ and I am grateful to be able to do what I love. It is clear to me that everything that is happening in my career is a manifestation of that love. I got into acting when I was 16 and now I’m 63, so I am grateful for it all.”
He does not want to reveal too much about what is going to happen on Skeem Saam, but he urges viewers to stay tuned.
“In every role I play, I am always truthful to the character and the performance as a whole and that is why I think they are always so memorable. This one is no different.”

Elizabeth Thobakgale, played by Amanda Manku, will be charmed by a former patient but things seem a little too good to be true.
She hasn’t been with anyone since Kwaito (Clement Maosa) and this new man seem to be everything she wants in a partner.
The former patient is Luc, played by Jean-Michel Tuji Mukengeshayi, and together they seem to have sparks flying.
The sparks are unfortunately extinguished by Ntate Kganyago, another trusted former patient of hers. He eventually warns her about Luc being a professional con man, who has apparently been swindling a number of innocent women out of their hard-earned money.
