This year has been nothing but one win after the next for the KwaMashu-born musician and producer.

He kicked off the year with a Grammy award and has been floating high with the stars ever since.

Now as he nears closer to the release of his last album under the Universal Music Group label, he plans to bow out from the frontlines of the music business in style.

As clouds hovered over the DHL stadium on 14 July 2023, the City of Cape Town mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, actress and rapper Boity Thulo and singer Nomcebo Zikode were among those in attendance of yet another celebration of Zakes Bantwini’s strides.

Following the recent announcement that Boity, Zakes and Nomcebo have secured a partnership with Aline talent agency, Zakes is already on to his next win.

“We’re so pleased to partner with you on this incredible event in Cape Town on the 28th of October," said the mayor after calling the man of the moment to the stage.

"We’re looking forward, in the coming weeks and months, to hear the full line-up that you have got in store for us and of course, you’re going to be the headline [act].”

After a warm welcome on stage, Zakes thanked those in attendance at the conference, the stadium management as well as Aline which has made the show possible with a three-year partnership.
