The Covid-19 new variant is here and lives have been lost, infection rates are increasing and hospitals are buckling under the strain.

So much so that South Africa recently moved to an adjusted level 4 lockdown to slow down the transmission of the Covid-19 virus.

This means restaurants can only serve takeaways, gatherings are prohibited, shows have been cancelled, gyms are closed and some have even had to cancel their weddings.

Thousands are suddenly out of work and those who work in the entertainment industry are shattered.

Celebrities and influencers who rely on gigs took to social media to share their frustrations.

Many have called out the government’s decision, saying the restrictions will affect the entertainment industry which has already been hard hit by the pandemic.

Cassper Nyovest, Candice Modisille , Lvovo, Amanda Black and Simphiwe Dana are some of those who have raised their concerns over the move.

In an Instagram live, Lvovo called out the President for blaming gatherings for the spread of the virus.

“Can we just stop blaming gatherings and put more effort on vaccines, we just want to go back to work, or they want us to die poor?” the Bayang’sukela hitmaker said.

Cassper, who just signed a R100 million deal with Drip footwear founder Lekau Sehoana, was set to have a big launch but with the prohibition of gatherings he had to cancel it. “Unfortunately, we have to postpone. All the money down the drain.

"I feed families my guy. I know you think it's easy cause I always have a smile on my face but my downfall means a lot of people lose their jobs. We gone be ayt doe. Hope everyone else survives too," he wrote.
