Media personality Boitumelo Thulo, popularly known as Boity, is proving to be a woman of many talents.
The 30-year-old jack-of-all-trades is already known for her skills in presenting, acting and rapping, and now she’s taking on the business world with her latest venture – her very own perfume.
Speaking to DRUM, she says she’s always known that one day she would have her own perfume – it was just a question of timing.
“When I chose the Boity Pink Sapphire scent, I knew I wanted it to evoke a sense of confidence and I wanted something that would make me feel like a powerful woman – I want to own the room when I walk into it.
“I also didn’t want an overwhelming smell and when I smelt Boity Pink Sapphire, I was like, yes, this is the one, this is the woman I want to smell like.”
Boity tells us part of her inspiration for the perfume came from an encounter she had.

“When I met one of the partners of Halo Heritage, she gave me a hug and said I have a pink aura. That stuck with me so much, and throughout the conversation about the perfume I knew I wanted to incorporate it. We also use pink in the packaging.
“I named it sapphire because it is a gemstone I hold dear to my heart. Its characteristics are faithfulness, love, beauty, sensuality and courage,” she tells DRUM.
Boity says she wants the women who wear her perfume to take up space and feel confident about who they are.
“For me, the most important thing is how a woman feels when she puts on my perfume. I want her to put it on and feel a sense of confidence, beauty and power. When she walks into a room, I want her to be confident and to own it. The perfume must talk for her before she even says anything. I want her to leave a long-lasting impression.”
