They are baring their souls for the whole nation to see as they deal with the very critical issue of identity.

Returning for the second season of Becoming on Mzansi Magic, the contestants share their journeys as young queer people.

Trey Moo, responds to she, they and them. They are an activist and writer. As the matriarch of the House of Diamonds, their focus is on keeping everyone housed and safe. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her own battles to fight – we follow as she confronts family rejection and seeks love and belonging.

Delovie identifies as they. They are a non-binary photographer: The Ugandan-born photographer is also facing gender bias and visa issues.

Seoketsi’s pronouns are she and her. She is an activist. The first daughter in The House Of Diamonds and activist faces her own traumas while attempting to find emotional, mental and physical stability.

Caley also responds to she and her. She is a model. She is a dj and model who has walked for SA fashion week four times continues navigating though the modeling industry. She has family support. The show follows her as she begins her journey of hormone therapy.

The reality show also follows the lives of Koyame who identifies as he and him, Ayabonga is a he and they, Lulu identifies as they and Nene responds to she and her.

In Becoming: House of Diamonds, the cast goes through their individual journeys and meet them at the place where their paths intersect and perhaps even mirror each other. This is as much a show about community as it is about individual stories.

Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net says the show is everything that is needed on TV.
