She’s come a long way. She started off as a campus radio presenter and has become a versatile actress and swim wear designer.
Thando Thabethe has paid her dues in the industry and fans have fallen in love with her again after the release of the new Netflix series, How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding.
The 30-year old media personality was introduced to our small screens in 2008 as Thando Nkosi on the SABC 1’s sitcom, My Perfect Family.
Twelve years later Thando is still in the spotlight.

Drum has put together a list of five of their favourite roles by Thando.
1. My perfect family as Thando
This was Thando’s first acting gig. She played Thando Nkosi, a beautiful yet dump character who left viewers in tears and often wondering how stupid one person can be. She was also part of the Nkosi household, a dysfunctional family that tried too hard to appear normal.
2. Generations as Nolwazi
In 2015 she joined Generations: The Legacy as Nolwazi.
Her character was a girl born and raised in the township who was very goal-driven and ambitious when it came to her career.
Nolwazi was highly educated and highly fascinated by people who were different from her.
3. Housekeepers as Linda
This is when most of her fans fell in love with her work on TV. Thando played the lead, as Linda Ndlovu who hid her identity behind the apron as she assumed the role of a housekeeper in an attempt to bring justice for her mother who was murdered by her employer.

4. Love lives here as Zinhle
Thando played a lead again in this local film alongside Lungile Radu. She took on the role of Zinhle Malinga – a young writer whose top priorities were to find a husband, settle down, and have kids.
Zinhle is a hard-working modern woman with traditional values. She knows exactly what she wants and believes she knows what the next best step is for her: getting married.
5. How To Ruin Christmas as Beauty
In the most recent role, she played Beauty on the latest South African 3-parts series on Nextflix, How to Ruin Christmas.
Once again, she played a character of a hopeless romantic - almost similar to her role as Zinhle on Love Lives Here.
Beauty is preparing for her dream wedding with the love of her life when her older sister, who she hasn’t seen in years, manages to ruin the wedding before it even happened.
Beauty and her whole family, including her older sister, then spend the next three days frantically trying to get things back on track.
