Yes, it's the mansions, the holiday homes, supercars and jets, the trips, the businesses they run and the storylines that get you hooked on The Real Housewives.
The Durban version of this international reality show that seems loved and loathed in equal measure has been doing things differently, though, ever since it first premiered last year with Annie Ludick, Ayanda Ncwane, Kgomotso Ndungane, Nonkanyiso "LaCoonco" Conco, Nonku Williams and Sorisha Naidoo.
For many fans, it offered much-needed entertainment in a gloomy period of a prolonged Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown. The drama the women brought, alongside guest cast members Mabusi Seme and Nonku's mom, The Queen, brightened our worlds with Ayanda arguably stealing the show on each episode when it came to style.

This season, a surprising new addition to the family was Thobile "MaKhumalo" Mseleku of Uthando Nes'thembu fame. She understood the Real Housewives of Durban assignment and was not apologetic about being a rural girl who's found gold, she told Drum at the beginning of the season.
Since she's joined the show, her outfits as much as her casting have been hotly debated. Thobile, however, seems to just be having fun with it – mixing things up on the reality show and her looks.
“Your outfit must speak for itself when you walk into a room, before people even speak to you,” were the words from Thobile herself when she first appeared on Real Housewives of Durban.
