Oupa Bopape

Nadia Nakai might be one of the more interesting rappers locally. She first came on to the scene and couldn’t duck the comparisons between her and America’s Nicki Minaj.

Nadia inked a deal with Cassper Nyovest’s label Family Tree, and her first major blip on the airwaves and charts is arguably on the remix of Riky Rick’s Amantombazane. She released a string of other singles like the hit Money Back and grabbed our attention on the mob track Ragga.

Continuing to come out of her shell, her last opus Naked was a demonstration of how-at the time of its release-she had worked on her craft and was easily the most improved rapper in the country that year. The idea of a female rapper is still one that needs some ironing out but if we’re being honest, Nadia is quite possibly at the top of the heap when it comes to that.
